Isabey Mosque
The mosque of Isa Bey was built by the Aydinoglu Anatolian principality in 1375 by Isa Bey on Ayasuluk hill in Selcuk. It is one of the biggest and sumptuous examples of Turkish architecture.
It draws attention to the value of the architecture with inside and outside decoration, a courtyard garden and 2 big minarets. But, because of the earthquakes between 1653- 1688 one of the minarets fell down and some parts of roof as well. The roof and the rest of the building was restored in 1975.
After the hundreds of years and hundreds of earthquakes the mosque still remains the biggest mosque of Selcuk and one of the biggest in Anatolia. It is still open daıly for prayer and touristic purposes.
