Izmir

Izmir is the third biggest metropolis city of Turkey with a population of three million people.Izmir is 1 hour away from Selcuk by bus and about 1,5 hour away by train.

If you want to see a metropolitan city but not too crowded and without air pollution, this is where you should come.

Izmir is an old city. It was founden about 5000 years ago. It was called Trojan city of Smyrna back then; Homer spent most of his life here. Smyrna changed empire many times over the centuries, for example: Greeks, The Persian Empire, The Roman Empire, The Byzantines, The Ottoman Empire, and (of course) modern Turkey.

You should also check out Kadifekale which is an impressive castle crowning a hill, as well as the asansor (elevator) which was originally built in 1907.

Clock Tower

Clock tower is located in the harbour of Izmir, the Clock Tower is a beautiful piece of marble architecture and art. The tower has four fountains placed around the base in a circular pattern and stand0 about 25 metres high.
