Saint John Basilica

The Basilica of St. John was a great church, which is located 4 km’s from the ancient city of Ephesus.

The Basilica is on the slopes of Ayasoluk Hill and is believed to have been the location where St. John spent the last years of his life writing his version of the Gospel. It is believed the Basilica of St.John stands above the burial site of St. John.

 

The Basilica of St. John is a site where you can view a beautiful panoramic of the rest of Selcuk and Ephesus. With a fascinating sunset of Ephesus on your left, you also have the old Isabey Mosque on your right. From the top, you can see the last column of the Temple of Artemis and relish in the atmosphere of the basilica.
